Last Sunday, at Verve Lounge in Atlanta, GA, The Klein Group, Inc. & Tryxo.com partnered to produce a Media & Music Revue “Cee-Lo & Radiculture Records presents Sierra Symone & Eddy Fontane!”

This ground breaking event, was graced by several celebrities, such as: Atlanta’s noted international designers of AOKI Jeans, Starr Dailey Webb and Edward Webb, who gave us insight to their most recent addition plans to launch a men’s line, Patrice with Upscale Magazine, NFL Players-Rashad Baker and Francis Brown, Carlisa Levert, Philadelphia’s top model, Tynia Allen, Danny Zook of Alien Music, Creative Loafing and music mogul Antwanette McLaughlin, to name a few.

After making Eddy Fontane completed his media run, through the four camera stations, he stunned the audience with a live acoustic set. This young man is going to set the precedence for emerging artists. Eddy is sure fit on the eccentric’s label, Radiculture Records. Fontane is a young Cee-Lo Greene in the making, performing all original songs, that had the crowd standing on edge awaiting the next note. Fontane is absolutely a force to be reckoned with.

KOCH Acquires Navarre's Indie Music Business for $6.5 Million

Minneapolis, Minn. - Navarre Corp., a publisher and distributor of physical and digital home entertainment products, announced on Monday that it has sold its independent music distribution business to KOCH Entertainment for $6.5 million in cash.

Minnesota-based Navarre said the music distribution business generates around $50 million in annual net revenue.

Founded in 1987, KOCH Entertainment is a large independent music company that represents about 2.7% of the total U.S. market.

"The sale of Navarre Entertainment Media is a continuation of our strategy to assess all parts of the company that are in business sectors that are in decline to allow us to redeploy assets in stable and growth businesses," said Navarre CEO Cary Deacon.

"We realized that consolidation was inevitable in the Independent music sector in order to serve both, labels and their artists and the retail customers."

Guitar Center Inaugurated Music-Based Initiative Featuring Informative, Provocative And Fun Discussions And Tutorials Geared To Aid Musicians; Live Performances By Artists Who Changed The Face Of Hip Hop

 

New York, NY: Guitar Center, the nation's leading music instrument retailer, celebrates a wildly successful "GC Sessions" -- a new kind of educational forum.  The free event took place Thursday, April 26th at Manhattan's Guitar Center located at 25 West 14th Street from 6-9PM.  Geared towards promoting players with deep passion and commitment to the craft, this edition of "GC Sessions" educated, inspired and conserved the tradition and art and hip-hop.

This music education based initiative featured informative, provocative panel discussions and hands-on tutorials, GC Sessions served as an incubator for musicians and provided them an opportunity to network with their peers and gain insight and knowledge from their heroes in a comfortable and intimate setting. The goal was to help musicians further their musical aspirations and provide tools for career growth.

At the event, hip-hop pioneers spoke to an over-capacity house of up-and-coming enthusiasts.  Speakers gave insight as to the origins of the genre as well as the future of the music business.

The album, which was released by Virgin Records on March 20th, jumped from #25 to #16 on Billboard's Top 200 album chart this week, and is the only album in the Top 20 to enjoy a sales increase. The jump comes on the heels of Stone's television appearances on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno, where she performed the album's lead-off single "Tell Me 'Bout It," and the top-rated Dancing With the Stars, where she performed the single and "Super Duper Love" from her 2003 debut The Soul Sessions. In past weeks, Stone has also appeared on The Today Show, The Late Show With David Letterman, The Early Show's Second Cup Café, Tavis Smiley, and as the lead guest on The Late, Late Show With Craig Ferguson. She will be a guest on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on May 15th and Live with Regis and Kelly on June 15th.

Stone is currently gearing up for the video launch of her second single off Introducing, entitled "Tell Me What We're Gonna Do Now," which features rapper Common and which is currently a single at Urban AC radio. USA Today has chosen the track as its "Pick of the Week," stating: "Stone is no longer a curiosity as the young Brit teen with the big voice and vintage R&B leanings. The grown-up Stone is a full-fledged soul belter, the kind they don't make much anymore. This passionate mid-tempo ballad shows that she's just beginning to reveal the true depths of her talent."

For the video, which was directed by Sanaa Hamri (Prince, Mariah Carey), Stone -- a longtime supporter of relief causes in Africa -- has teamed up with Bono's (RED) initiative, becoming the first artist to contribute 100% of her share of the proceeds from each copy of a video sold on iTunes to the Global Fund. The money (RED) raises for the Global Fund finances programs to fight HIV/AIDS in Africa, with an emphasis on women and children. (RED), which has raised over $25 million dollars in the past year, works with the world's biggest brands to make unique (PRODUCT) RED-branded products and direct up to 50% of their gross profits to the Global Fund.

Carolina All Stars Entertainment presents the first annual Carolina Holy Hip Hop Achievement Awards. This event will be held at the New Life Sound Stage, 1337 Samuel Street, Charlotte, N.C. 28206. This is the church home of the legendary Prince of Gospel “John P. Kee”.

The Carolina Holy Hip Hop Achievement Awards was created to build community awareness about the positive Hip Hop movement. During the three-day event, to be held at the New Life Fellowship Center in Charlotte, NC, Christian Hip Hop artists from all over the country will participate in production classes, panel discussions and an awards program geared towards preparing them to effectively educate the community on the Holy Hip Hop movement. Artists will be given the tools and information necessary to take an effective stand against glorifying guns, drugs, violence, street gangs and prostitution in their work, and encouraged to truly glorify God and inspire others with their talents.

SAE and Bootleg DJ Cafe WILL launch a series of workshops that will allow you a close look at just how well-known producers use their magic.

On previous editions, Jeroen Verheij, Francesco Pico, Joris Voorn, Rob Hordijk & SAE lecturers gave inside tips and tricks in using SOFTWARES like:

Logic Pro,
Cubase SX
Ableton Live,
Nord Modular & Fruity Loops.

Upcoming edition brings 4Lux labelowner, producer & DJ Gert-Jan Bijl (aka Gerd, Sensurreal & Literon) and a SAE senior lecturer. During the first part, Gert-Jan Bijl will discuss his way of producing tracks with the AKAI MPC, Kurzweil K2500 and his favourite analogue synth: the legendary Arp Odyssey.
He will also let you in on some secrets about his way of performing live.

The second part by a SAE senior lecturer will cover the topic
' Advanced Mixing Techniques ' AS HE DEMONSTRATES these techniques using Industry standard DAW Protools 7.3.

 

The workshop takes 3 hours and will be held at Bootleg DJ Café on March 22th 2007 from 19:00 till 22:00.

Costs are 15,- Euro pp and there will be a maximum of 45 admissions.
